SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Guangzhou Petrochemical plans to shut its 30,000 tonne/year high impact polystyrene (HIPS) line at its plant in Guangdong province on 1 November and will last for about one month, a company source said on Wednesday.

The profit losses and weak demand are the key reasons of the shutdown, a local distributer said.

The plant has one other 30,000 tonne/year general purpose polystyrene (GPPS) line.

Guangzhou Petrochemical will continue to operate the GPPS line at 70% capacity at the same site.
