S Korea’s SKC Corp runs Ulsan HPPO plant at 100% capacity

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s SKC Corp is currently operating its hydrogen peroxide-to-propylene oxide (HPPO) plant situated in Ulsan, South Korea, at 100% capacity after completing further trial runs since 11 October, a company source said on Wednesday.

“We are satisfied with the results of the trial runs and the plant is currently operating at 100% (capacity),”the source said. The source added that SKC Corp will continue to perform periodic trial runs on its newly revamped HPPO unit in line with the plant optimization process.

SKC Corp’s HPPO plant now has a nameplate capacity of 130,000 tonnes/year, following a planned shutdown for the installation of a new catalyst from 13 to 20 September.

SKC Corp, which also operates a 175,000 tonne/year propylene oxide (PO)/ styrene monomer (SM) plant in Ulsan, is the sole producer of PO in South Korea.
