SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Haohua Yuhang Chemical has shut its 100,000 tonne/year polyvinyl chloride (PVC) unit in Jiaozuo in Henan province, on 30 October for scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Wednesday.

“This is a regular turnaround,” the source said, adding that it will last for about five days.

Haohua Yuhang has a total PVC capacity of 500,000 tonne/year, with 400,000 tonnes/year at Qinyang.

The producer sold carbide-based PVC during the turnaround at yuan (CNY) 6,500/tonne ($1,042/tonne) EXW (ex-works) on 31 October, according to Chemease.

The spot PVC prices in central China were assessed at CNY6,250-6,400/tonne EXW on 31 October, Chemease data showed.

The shutdown of the unit may not have any significant impact on the local PVC market because of end-users’ weak demand, a local PVC market player said.
