LONDON (ICIS)--Yara has appointed Gerd Lobbert as head of its upstream business segment, effective 1 December, the Norway-based fertilizer major said on Wednesday.

Lobbert will succeed Jan Duerloo, who has been acting head of the upstream segment since May when Tor Holba stepped down from that position. Duerloo will continue with Yara as head of production.

Lobbert will be a member of Yara's executive management team and report to CEO Jorgen Ole Haslestad.

Lobbert was previously an executive board member of Borealis, which he joined in 2009 from BASF.

Yara’s upstream segment manages the company's global production of ammonia, finished fertilizer and industrial products.
