US Q3 VAM production rises 1.5% year on year - AFPM

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) production rose to 778m lb (353,000 tonnes) in the third quarter of 2012, up by 1.5% from the same period in 2011, according to data received on Wednesday from the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM).

The year-on-year increase reflected a slight improvement in the US paints and coatings market in the third quarter compared with the same period in 2011. VAM is an ingredient in architectural paints and coatings.

The AFPM data was based on input from four companies – Celanese, Dow Chemical, DuPont and LyondellBasell.
