HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butadiene (BD) production in the third quarter was down 8.7% year on year, while inventories declined compared with the same time a year ago, according to data released by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) on Wednesday.
Third-quarter BD production was at 869.0m lb (394,000 tonnes), down from 952.2m lb at the same time in 2011.
Third-quarter 2012 inventories were 100m lb, down from 165m lb for the same period in 2011.
Major US BD producers include ExxonMobil, LyondellBasell, Shell and TPC Group – all of which contributed production figures included in the AFPM survey.
