SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical has restarted its 300,000 tonne/year polyethylene (PE) plant and 300,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant at Baotou city in Neimenggu Autonomous Region on 31 October, a company source said on Thursday.

The plants were shut on 8 October for regular maintenance, the source added.

The shutdown had little impact on the market because of abundant supply and weak demand.

PP yarn spot prices in northern China fell by CNY625/tonne ($100/tonne) to CNY10, 850-11,100/tonne on October 31 from CNY11, 500-11,700/tonne on 8 October, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
