S Korea's Kumho restarts Yeosu phenol/acetone plants

MELBOURNE (ICIS)--?xml:namespace>South Korea’s Kumho P&B Chemicals has restarted its No 2 and No 3 phenol/acetone plants in Yeosu following a planned turnaround, a company source said on Thursday.
The company’s No 2 and No 3 plants were restarted on 1 November after being taken off line on 12-13 October, the source said.
The company on 12 October took its No 3 phenol/acetone plant, which has a nameplate capacity of 250,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 150,000 tonnes/year of acetone, off line for overhaul.
Its No 2 phenol/acetone plant at the same site, which can produce 130,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 80,000 tonnes/year of acetone, was shut on 13 October.
The company’s No 1 phenol/acetone plant has been idle since early 2009.By: Trisha Huang
