SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shandong Shida Shenghua Chemical Group is planning to restart its two methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) units with a combined capacity of 220,000 tonnes/year at Dongying in Shandong in early November, a company source said on Thursday.

Its 200,000 tonne/year and 20,000 tonne/year MTBE units were shut on around 20 October for routine maintenance, added the source, without giving the specific date of restart.

The company has a small volume of stock for supply during the shutdown period, according to the source.

Normally, the company produces 400 tonnes/day of MTBE, which are mostly supplied to the spot market.
