MELBOURNE (ICIS)--Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corp (TPCC) plans to cap its phenol/acetone plant operating rate at 85-90% capacity in November as margins continue to be squeezed, a company source said on Friday.

The plant at Kaohsiung has a nameplate capacity of 360,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 220,000 tonnes/year of acetone.

Meanwhile, TPCC shut its downstream bisphenol A (BPA) plant at the same Kaohsiung site on 1 November in response to unfavourable market conditions.

The BPA plant is expected to remain offline until mid-January 2013.
