Germany’s ThyssenKrupp wins €1bn order to build US ferts plants

HOUSTON (ICIS)--ThyssenKrupp has won a contract worth more than  €1bn ($770m) to build two fertilizer projects in the US for CF Industries, the Germany-based engineering firm said on Friday.

Fetilizer firm CF announced the projects on Thursday.

CF plans to build ammonia and urea plants at Port Neal, Iowa, and at Donaldsonville, Louisiana. The two projects will produce 2.1m tonnes/year of ammonia, 2.0m-2.6m tonnes/year of granular urea and up to 1.8m tonnes/year of urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) solutions.

ThyssenKrupp received the order through its US subsidiary, Uhde Corporation of North America, it said.
