HOUSTON (ICIS)--Colombia’s polystyrene (PS) prices are rising by 7-10% in November, as domestic producers seek to offset rising raw-material costs, a distributor said on Friday.
The increases are effective on 1 November and will affect all grades, the source said.
Before the increase, general purpose PS (GPPS) prices in Colombia were in the range of $2,037-2,147/tonne (€1,568-1,653/tonne) FOT (free on truck), while high impact PS (HIPS) prices were in the range of $2,229-2,257/tonne FOT, according to ICIS data.
PS supply was deemed to be adequate for seasonal demand, although it remains on the tight side.
PS demand has been steady in the country, and sellers expect it will remain strong in November.
