MELBOURNE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao restarted its 200,000 tonne/year phenol/acetone plant on Monday after completing a turnaround, a company source said.

The restart of the phenol/acetone plant, which is located at Shanghai Chemical Industrial Park in Caojing, was on schedule.

The plant was shut for annual maintenance on 15 October.

The downstream 120,000 tonne/year bisphenol-A (BPA) unit at the same site, operated by Shanghai Sinopec Mitsui Chemicals, is scheduled to be restarted during the week starting 12 November, the source added. The BPA plant was taken off line on 13 October for maintenance.

Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao has two other phenol/acetone units with a combined capacity of 160,000 tonnes/year at Pudong in Shanghai that are operating at full capacity, according to the source.
