LONDON (ICIS)--Foster Wheeler has won a contract from the World Bank to provide consulting services for a carbon capture and storage (CCS) programme in China, the Switzerland-based international petrochemicals engineering firm said on Tuesday.

The World Bank has launched an analytical and advisory assistance programme in China to build the country’s understanding of, and capacity for, CCS.

Foster Wheeler will support this programme, which is financed under the World Bank's CCS Trust Fund, it said.

The main objective for Foster Wheeler is to strengthen the CCS know-how of China Power Investment Corporation (CPI), one of the country’s largest power producers, it added.

Foster Wheeler expects to complete its work in June 2013. Financial terms were not disclosed.
