LONDON (ICIS)--BioAmber is to supply biobased succinic acid to an automotive bioplastics development programme between Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical and car equipment supplier Faurecia, the companies said on Tuesday.

“The objective of the joint Faurecia-Mitsubishi Chemical programme is to develop a polymer that can be used in mass-production for automotive interior parts," they said in a statement.

“The joint development will start by modifying Mitsubishi Chemical’s patented biomass-derived poly-butylene succinate (PBS) and ultimately target to be produced from 100% bio sources.”

BioAmber is a US-based renewable chemicals company while Faurecia is listed on the NYSE Euronext Paris stock exchange.

No financial details were disclosed.
