SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shandong Dongyue Chemical shuts its 120,000 tonne/year polyvinyl chloride (PVC) unit in Zibo, Shandong, on 5 November for maintenance, a company source said on Wednesday.

The company was running the plant at 100% of capacity before the shutdown, according to the source.

The time of the restart is yet to be determined and the maintenance may be extended indefinitely as the company has made heavy losses this year, the company source said.

The local demand in Shandong province dampened and the PVC prices continued to fall. The producer’s offers were at yuan (CNY) 6,600/tonne ($1,056/tonne) EXW (ex-works) on 2 November, according to the source.
