China’s Erdos Group starts up Inner Mongolia caustic soda plant

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Erdos Group has started up its new 300,000 tonne/year caustic soda plant in Inner Mongolia in early November, a company source said on Wednesday.

The specific start-up date was not disclosed by the company.

The plant is operating at 30% capacity and the operating rate will be ramped up, said the source without giving further details.

Spot caustic soda prices in north China were assessed at yuan (CNY) 2,200-2,250/tonne ($352-360/tonne) for 32% liquid membrane caustic soda, CNY2,350-2,500/tonne for 48% liquid membrane caustic soda and CNY2,800-2,900/tonne for 99% solid caustic soda on 7 November, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
