LONDON (ICIS)--Wacker Chemie is investing €1.2m ($1.5m) to expand its technical centre in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and open a new one in Mexico City, the German chemical firm said on Wednesday.

At the same time, Wacker will expand its Wacker Academy training centre at the Mexico City site and open a new one in Sao Paolo.

Both projects are scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2013, the Munich-based company said.

“Middle and South America are key future markets for Wacker,” said president and CEO Rudolf Staudigl.

He said that sales in the regions had grown by an annual average of 15% over the past five years.

“Increasing demand for state-of-the-art, high-quality solutions leads us to expect continued growth rates for our silicone and polymer businesses in the years to come,” Staudigl added.
