MELBOURNE (ICIS)--South Korea's LG Chem plans to start up its new phenol/acetone and bisphenol A (BPA) plants at Daesan in mid-January 2013, company source said on Thursday.

The phenol/acetone plant, which has a nameplate capacity of 300,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 180,000 tonnes/year of acetone, and the downstream 150,000 tonne/year BPA plant were earlier scheduled to begin commercial operations in December.

The start-ups have been postponed to January 2013 because of delays in construction, the source added.
