SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Arkema’s third-quarter net profit rose by 6.4% year on year to €116m ($149m) as earnings at the firm’s performance products segment reached a new all-time high, the French specialty chemicals maker said on Thursday.
Its sales rose by 1.2% year on year to €1.61bn in the third quarter, while its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) was unchanged at €266m, the company said in a statement.
Arkema’s performance products segment had a record EBITDA of €107m for the period, with EBITDA margin at 19.5%.
“The fourth quarter will reflect the traditional year-end seasonality,” the company said.
“The soft demand observed in certain market segments, the challenging situation of the European economy, and the volatility of raw materials are likely to continue during the fourth quarter and to result in the cautious management by customers of their inventories at year-end,” Arkema said.
Arkema expects to achieve full-year EBITDA of close to €1bn in 2012.
