LONDON (ICIS)--BASF’s 270,000 tonne/year acrylic acid (AA) facility in Ludwigshafen, Germany, is experiencing production problems, market sources said on Thursday.

AA and acrylate esters production is likely to have been affected, sources said, although the outage is not expected to impact the market significantly in the short term, as demand is on a lower level.

“The market is long. November and December are weak months,” a trader said.

Speaking about acrylates production, one seller said, “AA is never an easy story.”

There was no official confirmation from BASF.

BASF also has AA production facilities in Antwerp, Belgium.
