MELBOURNE (ICIS)--South Korea’s LG Chem plans to shut its phenol/acetone and downstream bisphenol-A (BPA) plants at Yeosu in early December for a catalyst change, a company source said on Friday.

The plants will be off line on 1-7 December, the source said.

LG Chem's phenol/acetone plant can produce 300,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 180,000 tonnes/year of acetone, and output loss is estimated by the company at 9,000 tonnes for phenol and 5,400 tonnes for acetone, the source added.

Output loss from its No 1 and No 2 BPA units, with a combined capacity of 300,000 tonnes/year, will be 9,000 tonnes, according to the company source.
