SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Asahi Kasei has delayed the restart of its 100,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant in Kawasaki because of mechanical trouble, a company source said on Friday.

The plant has been shut since 23 September and was originally scheduled to resume production this week, the source said.

Asahi Kasei has to procure MMA from co-producers in Asia in the near term because it has limited inventories, the source added.
