HOUSTON (ICIS)--US October styrene contracts settled at 76.00-80 cents/lb ($1,675-1,764/tonne, €1,307-1,358/tonne) on Friday, up by an average of 0.75 cent/lb from the previous month on the back of higher feedstock benzene costs.
The increase was in line with some market expectations after producers announced increases of 5 cents/lb, following the 20 cent/gal increase in the October benzene contract.
Major US styrene producers include Americas Styrenics, Styrolution, LyondellBasell, Total and Westlake.
