HOUSTON (ICIS)--US September styrene exports and imports were down from the same month a year ago, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.
September 2012 exports were at 113,094 tonnes, down by 23,353 tonnes or 17% from 136,447 tonnes in September 2011. The September exports were up though, by 16,214 tonnes or 17% from 96,880 in August
September imports were at 26,770 tonnes, down by 7,664 tonnes or 23% from 34,434 tonnes in September 2011. The September imports were also up by 3,083 tonnes or 13% from 23,687 tonnes the previous month.
Canada has been the only source of US styrene imports in 2012.
Major US styrene producers include Americas Styrenics, Styrolution, LyondellBasell, Total and Westlake.
