US September ammonia imports down by 14% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US ammonia imports in September were down by about 14% from the same month in 2011, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.

US ammonia imports declined to 570,115 tonnes in September from 662,877 tonnes in September 2011.

Imports fell in September on fewer imports from Trinidad & Tobago.

September imports increased from 530,764 tonnes imported in August.

Trinidad and Tobago at 284,491 tonnes was the major source of US ammonia imports, followed by Ukraine at 89,670 tonnes, Canada at 83,720 tonnes and Russia at 50,120 tonnes.

Other sources included Mexico, Venezuela and Korea.

Year to date through September, the US imported a total of 4,761,692 tonnes of ammonia.
