HOUSTON (ICIS)--US polycarbonate (PC) exports for September were down by 23% year on year, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.
Exports decreased to 30,535 tonnes from 39,788 tonnes in September 2011, the ITC said.
Year to date, PC exports have totalled 328,351 tonnes, an increase of 9.3% from the same period in 2011.
Top destinations for US PC exports in September were Mexico, China and Korea.
Imports were 7,801 tonnes in September, more than double the level from September 2011.
Belgium, Thailand and Singapore were the top three points of origin for PC material imported to the US in September.
For the year through September, 46,430 tonnes have been imported, a year-on-year increase of 26%.
US producers of PC include Bayer MaterialScience, SABIC Innovative Plastics and Styron.
