HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butadiene (BD) exports for September were up by 37% year on year, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.
September 2012 exports increased to 6,817 tonnes from 4,970 tonnes in September 2011, the ITC said.
Year to date, exports of BD have totalled 49,939 tonnes, an increase of 3.1% from the same period in 2011.
The lone destination for US BD exports in September was Mexico.
Imports for September totalled 51,244 tonnes, down by 14% year on year.
Saudi Arabia, Canada and Brazil were the top three points of origin for BD material brought to the US in September.
US producers of BD include ExxonMobil, INEOS Olefins & Polymers, LyondellBasell, Sabina Petrochemicals, Shell Chemical Co and TPC Group.
