MEDELLIN, Colombia (ICIS)--Pralca, a Venezuelan glycols producer, has issued a force majeure (FM) on ethylene oxide (EO) and ethylene glycols (EG) at its plant in the Zulia province of Venezuela, a source familiar with operations said on Friday.
An unplanned outage at boiler B-1301, which produces steam for the glycols prodcution, forced the shutdown of plants producing EO and EG, the company said in a statement issued to buyers on 1 November.
The outage during repairs to the boiler is expected to last 60 days and has precipitated the FM, Pralca said.
Pralca is a subsidiary of Venezuela’s state-owned PEQUIVEN.
The plant is located in Santa Rita, in western Venezuela on Lake Maracaibo.
