HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acetic acid exports in September rose almost 16% year on year on greater shipments to Spain and Canada, according to data released on Friday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US acetic acid exports totalled 60,159 tonnes in September, compared with 51,963 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
September shipments to Spain totalled 6,927, compared with none in the same month last year. The largest destination in September - Mexico - took 26,545 tonnes, down by 15% compared with 31,502 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
Shipments to Belgium - the second largest destination during September and the largest so far in 2012 - more than tripled to 9,974 tonnes, compared with 3,153 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
Major US acetic acid sellers include BP, Celanese and Eastman Chemical.
