HOUSTON (ICIS)--US vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) exports in September rose by almost 11% year on year on greater shipments to Brazil and Canada, according to data released on Friday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US VAM exports totalled 35,282 tonnes in September, compared with 31,876 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
September shipments to Brazil - the second largest destination - totalled 6,784 tonnes, up by 70% compared with 3,989 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
Shipments to Mexico - the largest destination - fell slightly, to 7,008 tonnes compared with 7,066 tonnes in September 2011.
Major US VAM sellers include Celanese, Dow Chemical, DuPont and LyondellBasell.
