Japan's Q3 GDP shrinks 3.5% on year; contracts 0.9% on quarter

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s economy shrank by 3.5% year on year in July-September this year, registering a 0.9% quarter-on-quarter contraction, official data showed on Monday.

This follows the revised 0.1% quarter-on-quarter growth in April-June this year, data from Japan’s Cabinet Office showed.

In the second quarter, the Japanese economy grew at an annual rate of 0.7%.
