SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korean toluene di-isocyanate (TDI) producer OCI shut its 50,000 tonne/year TDI plant at Kunsan on 12 November for maintenance and expects the scheduled turnaround to last until 19 November, a company source said.
The source said TDI supply is expected to tighten significantly during the maintenance period. It added that it may not be able to supply enough material to the domestic and regional markets, leading to possible price hikes in the short term.
“Definitely, we cannot supply the quantity to the market during maintenance period. [We have] not enough stock,” the source said.
TDI prices in Asia were at $2,800-2,900/tonne (€2,212-2,291/tonne) CFR (cost & freight) China Main Port (CMP) and ?xml:namespace>
($1 = €0.79)
