Japan October ethylene output rises 1.5% from September

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of ethylene in October increased by 1.5% to 500,000 tonnes from the previous month, official data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) showed on Tuesday.

Compared with the same period last year, the country’s output of the product was up by 10%, the data showed.

One naphtha cracker was shut for maintenance last month compared with two in September, according to METI. In October 2011, two crackers were shut for turnaround.
