SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Indorama Ventures (IVL) will expand its polyethylene terephthalate (PET) polymers production capacity in the US by setting up a new plant with a capacity of 540,000 tonnes/year by the fourth quarter of 2015, the company said in a statement.

This expansion will boost IVL’s total capacity of PET polymers in North America up to 2.1m tonnes/year, the company said.

While taking advantage of expected growth in North America, the company will maintain a low cost structure for the construction of the plant and therefore increase in its profit margin, the company added.

Separately, with respect to the previously announced PET expansion at its Polish site, the company has decided to carry out a significant debottlenecking instead of setting up a new line as it would be more cost efficient.
