SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhongchuang Chemical plans to shut its 100,000 tonne/year 2-butyl acetate plant at Huizhou in Guangdong province on 17 November for about 20 days of maintenance, a company source said on Thursday.

The producer also has a 100,000 tonne/year 2-butyl acetate plant at Yueyang, which was restarted on 12 November and is currently running at 40% of capacity, the source added. The plant was shut on 24 October for maintenance.

Most players think that the turnaround will have little impact on the market as the market supply is ample and the demand is poor.

The spot prices of 2-butyl acetate were assessed at yuan (CNY) 6,600-6,800/tonne ($1,059-1,091/tonne) DEL (delivered) east China on 15 November, which is CNY100/tonne lower than the previous week, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.

2-butyl acetate is used in paints, medications and printing ink.
