SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thai MMA decided to push back the scheduled turnaround of its 90,000 tonne/year No 2 methyl methacrylate (MMA) line in Map Ta Phut to January next year, a company source said on Thursday.
The No 2 line was due to be taken off line on Thursday for 10 days of maintenance, but the company decided to postpone the shutdown to increase its low MMA inventory, the source said.
The line is currently running at full capacity, the source said.
Thai MMA’s other MMA unit – a 90,000 tonne/year No 1 line – at the site is also operating at 100%, the source said.
In December, however, the company may cut operating rates at the No 1 line to 90% on shortage of feedstock isobutylene, the source said.
Thai MMA is a joint venture between Japan's Mitsubishi Rayon Corp and Thailand's Siam Cement Group.
