LONDON (ICIS)--Oxea has started up its new specialty esters production plant, Ester 2, in Oberhausen, Germany, the global oxo chemicals firm said on Thursday.
Oxea said the facility will increase its worldwide production capacity for specialty esters by over 50%. The company now has three specialty ester production units, with a fourth currently being built in China, it added. Capacity details were not disclosed.
“With our new unit, we are addressing the increasing demand for specialty esters made by Oxea. This successful investment further improves our flexibility and delivery capacity,” said Miguel Mantas, responsible for sales and marketing within Oxea’s executive board.
“The startup of Ester 2 brings us one big step closer to achieving our strategic goal. We continue to evolve into a supplier of specialty chemicals and are investing in our future,” said Martina Floel, spokesperson for the executive board of Oxea.
Oxea mechanically completed the specialty esters production plant in September.
Specialty esters are used to manufacture a large variety of industrial products, including those used for automotive and architecture applications, as well as for medical purposes, Oxea said.
