HOUSTON (ICIS)--Eastman Chemical has restarted one of its Longview crackers in Texas after a six-week turnaround, the company said on Monday.
The 358,000 tonne/year unit, which was taken down on 3 October, was restarted last week, a spokesperson said.
The cracker was originally expected to be off line for only three weeks, but Eastman extended the turnaround at the end of October, saying some of the unit's equipment needed additional maintenance work.
The company has two smaller crackers in Longview, each with 141,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity.
Eastman plans to take one of those units off line in October 2013 for a 29-day turnaround, according to information in the market.
