SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Chinese firm Shaanxi Jinyuan Group plans to build an industrial base for the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at Yan’an in Shaanxi province, northwest China, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.

The company is set to build a 3m cubic metre (cbm)/day (600,000 tonnes/year) gas liquefaction plant at the industrial base, said the source from Shaanxi Lvyuan Natural Gas, a subsidiary of Shaanxi Jinyuan Group.

The yuan (CNY) 5bn ($801m)  project will consist of a control centre, a logistics park, manufacturing plants for LNG-fuelled vehicle parts and LNG-refuelling stations in Yan’an city, the source said.

However, the specific timeline of the construction is unknown as the project is still at a preliminary stage, the source added.

Meanwhile, Shaanxi Lvyuan Natural Gas is expected to start up its new 1m cbm/day LNG plant at Yulin in Shaanxi province in January next year, the source said.

Shaanxi Jinyuan Group specialises largely in industries such as energy and minerals, financial investment, real estate and hotel properties.
