TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of polystyrene (PS) rose by 5% month on month to 50,568 tonnes in October, official data from an industry association show on Tuesday.
The country’s internal demand for PS was up by 10% month on month to 53,976 tonnes, according to the Japan Styrene Industry Association.
Domestic shipment volumes for electric and industrial applications were unchanged from the previous month at 7,980 tonnes in October, while shipments for packaging increased by 3% to 24,959 tonnes, the data show.
Exports of PS rose by 55% to 1,676 tonnes in October from September, based on the statistics.
