LONDON (ICIS)--Germany’s federal competition agency issued a ruling prohibiting chemical distributor Brenntag to continue its CVH Chemie-Vetrieb joint venture with distributor CG Chemikalien, it said on Wednesday.

The Bundeskartellamt said that its investigation showed that the joint venture between the two chemical distributors had led to an “impermissible restriction in competition.”

The three firms were active on the same regional markets and held combined market shares of up to 70%, the agency added.

The companies have one month to appeal the ruling, it added.
