Argentina’s Oct chemical production up by 5.1% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s October chemical production was up by 5.1% year on year, industry sources said on Wednesday.

Production of basic chemical products was down by 8.7% in October 2012 compared to the same month of the previous year, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.

Production of industrial gases was up in October by 6.3% year on year, the group said.

Production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber was up by 10.5% in October compared to the same month of 2011.

Agrochemicals production increased by 11.4% in October, while production of pharmaceutical products went up by 10.6% year on year.

Production of detergents, soaps and personal products declined in October by 10.2% compared to the same month of 2011.

Meanwhile, plastic products and rubber tyres production combined increased by 5.5% in October year on year.

Rubber tyre production was up by 17.6%, while October production of plastic products increased by 3.1% year on year, INDEC said.
