GPCA: GPCA hosts ICCA Energy & Climate Change meeting

At the invitation of GPCA, the Energy & Climate Change (E&CC) Leadership Group of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) held its latest meeting in Dubai on 14-15 October 2012.


Energy & Climate Change Leadership Group

The E&CC Leadership Group seeks to develop and promote a sustainable, comprehensive and globally aligned industry strategy that enables the development of innovative products and technologies to help meet greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals; recognizes the GHG reductions already achieved by industry; ensures the security of energy supply; and maintains industry's competitiveness.

ICCA's E&CC Leadership Group is one of the three active leadership groups, besides Responsible Care (RC) and Chemical Policy & Health.

The E&CC leadership group is headed by Otsuka Shigenori of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation as chairman, and with Russel Mills, Dow Chemical's director of external technology & innovation as vice chair.

GPCA was represented by Dr Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, secretary general, Dr Ahmad Al-Hazmi, SABIC's representative on the GPCA RC Committee and Tahir Jamal Qadir, director, Responsible Care at GPCA.

The E&CC Leadership Group discussed the details of the ICCA participation in the United Nations COP-18 conference being held in Doha, Qatar, from 26 November to 6 December, 2012.
