SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Nanjing Bluestar New Chemical Materials shut its 55,000 tonne/year butanediol (BDO) unit and 50,000 tonne/year maleic anhydride (MA) unit at Nanjing in Jiangsu province in the week because of weak demand, a company source said on Friday.
The company declined to specify the shutdown date, but said it has suffered losses as a result of weak demand.
Both BDO and MA units of the company were operating at a low run rate of 30% capacity before the shutdown, the source added.
The company has no plan to restart the unit before the Lunar New Year holiday in February next year, the company source said.
