HOUSTON (ICIS)--Jacobs has won a contract for work on a sulphur recovery unit (SRU) by Estonia’s Viru Keemia Grupp (VKG), the US-based petrochemicals engineering firm said on Tuesday.

Jacobs said that the unit will be part of VKG’s investment to upgrade a shale oil refinery complex in Kothla-Jarve, Estonia.

Under the deal, Jacobs will license its technology and will provide the basic design package, training, as well as commissioning services for the new SRU, it said.

Financial details or timelines for construction and completion were not disclosed.

VKG is described as an Estonian oil shale processor. The company’s activities span the entire shale oil chain - from mining and processing to the marketing of chemicals.
