LONDON (ICIS)--Egypt-based Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) confirmed on Wednesday it has signed a distribution deal with LANXESS for 1m tonnes/year of ammonium sulphate (AS) that will be shipped from the Germany-headquartered producers’ facilities in Antwerp, Belgium.
The distribution rights were acquired from Fertiva, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Eurochem, OCI said. Financial details were not disclosed.
ICIS reported in October that OCI was set to sign the distribution deal with LANXESS.
The deal, which includes premium fertilizer product granular AS, makes OCI one of the largest AS suppliers in Europe and Brazil.
OCI’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Netherlands-based OCI Nitrogen, currently distributes 750,000 tonnes of AS produced by DSM.
Following the deal, OCI Nitrogen will sell 1.75m tonnes of standard and granular AS.
OCI's AS shipments from Antwerp were expected to begin earlier this month, but this could not be confirmed.
