SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Indonesia’s Asahimas Chemical plans to begin commercial production at its expanded caustic soda facility in February 2013, a company source said on Thursday.

The company has ramped up the capacity of its caustic soda unit to 480,000 dry metric tonnes (dmt)/year, from its initial capacity of 370,000 dmt/year, the source added.

Following the expansion, the producer is anticipated to have more spot cargo availability next year, market sources said.

Asahimas Chemical is a joint venture between Japan’s chemical producer Asahi Glass Co (AGC) and Japan’s Mitsubishi Corp.
