SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Nan Ya Plastics restarted its 200,000 tonne/year 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) plant at Mailiao early this week after completing a turnaround from mid-September, a company source said on Friday.
The company’s 400,000 tonne/year dioctyl phthalate (DOP) has remained in operation while the 2-EH plant was shut, the source said, without disclosing the current run rates of the facilities.
“We have not yet offered [2-EH and DOP] to the spot market for December shipments, but we expect to do that by next week after evaluation of the current market conditions,” the source added.
On 23 November, prices of 2-EH subjected to import duty fell by $30-50/tonne (€23-39/tonne) week on week to $1,570-1,600/tonne CFR (cost and freight) East Asia, while those of DOP slipped by $10-40/tonne over the same period to $1,750-1,780/tonne CFR East Asia, according to ICIS data.
