MELBOURNE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Kumho P&B Chemicals plans to start up its expanded methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) plant in Yeosu on 10 December as scheduled, a company source said on Tuesday.

The capacity of the MIBK plant has been increased by 83% to 55,000 tonnes/year during a shutdown and overhaul that began on 1 September.

The South Korean producer may be able to offer up to 2,000 tonnes/month of MIBK for export sales in 2013, although its eventual MIBK export volume will depend on the market situation.
